Unipro X SIFA: CONFERENCE AND GALA
Role: Director of Marketing
On April 22 2017, UniPro X SIFA hosted a conference and gala at Texas A&M University. Baon in the Filipino language (Tagalog) means a packed lunch. The idea stemmed from the simple joy of sharing food – of sharing parts of who we are. Together, we explored IDENTITY, EMPOWERMENT, LEGACY through discussion based workshops in hopes of finding strengths and helping one another grow.
UniPro Houston and SIFA invited participants in a one-day conference followed by a gala open to both members of Texas FSAs and the public. This event was catered to Filipino Student Association from all Texas Universities, but everyone was welcome to come, as the topics discussed at the conference intersected with people of all backgrounds. Our goal was to spark discussion amongst participants in an open environment, and hoped this would build camaraderie in this growing community.
We explored how we all contributed to the formation and translation of our story and history. Whether you join a FSA through culture, through dance, or a cause, each plays a part of who we are and the narrative we share. Our story moves through us and is show through the transformation of ourselves and our experiences. We wholeheartedly believe that each person’s story is important to the overall narrative.
